Les agrumes ont des propriétés antioxydantes et antimicrobiennes. L’objectif de cette étude était de déterminer les composés chimiques, les activités antioxydantes et antimicrobiennes de l’huile essentielle de citron (Citrus limon) et de l’huile essentielle d’orange douce (Citrus sinensis). Les huiles essentielles sont des distillats des composés volatils du métabolisme secondaire d’une plante et peuvent agir comme agents photoprotecteurs. Leur effet curatif est connu depuis l’Antiquité. Il est basé sur une variété de propriétés pharmacologiques qui sont spécifiques à chaque espèce végétale. L’activité antibactérienne de l’huile d’écorce d’orange et de l’huile d’écorce de citron a été étudiée contre E.coli, E. faecalis et S.aureus.
