Beyond Traditional Assurance: The New Frontier Of Internal Audit And GRC. The rapidly changing business environment, increasing complexity of organizational risks, and advances in technology are transforming the role of internal audit. Beyond Traditional Assurance: The New Frontier of Internal Audit and GRC examines this transformation and explores how internal audit can move beyond its traditional assurance function to become a strategic contributor to governance, risk management, compliance, technology, and organizational performance. The book provides a comprehensive examination of internal auditing, covering its conceptual foundations, historical development, objectives, services, professional standards, relationship with internal control, and interaction with technology. It then introduces the Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) approach as an integrated framework for coordinating assurance activities and creating organizational value. A central contribution of the book is its empirical investigation of the responsibilities of internal audit within the GRC approach. Drawing on the perspectives of internal auditors, independent auditors, and business managers in Türkiye, the study examines how governance, risk management, compliance, and information technology responsibilities relate to the benefits of GRC. Using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses and structural equation modeling, the research provides evidence on the responsibilities that can strengthen the contribution of internal audit to GRC.
