Belli Civilis, Book 3 is a historical account written by Julius Caesar, the famous Roman general and statesman. The book is part of Caesar’s larger work, Commentarii de Bello Gallico, which chronicles his conquest of Gaul (modern-day France) in the 1st century BC. Book 3 of Belli Civilis focuses on Caesar’s campaigns against the Belgae, a confederation of tribes in northern Gaul. The book details Caesar’s battles against the Belgae, including his victory at the Battle of the Sabis, and his efforts to subdue the region. Throughout the book, Caesar provides a detailed account of the military tactics used by both the Romans and the Belgae, as well as the political and social structures of the tribes he encounters. He also offers insights into the motivations and strategies of his own troops, as well as those of his enemies. Belli Civilis, Book 3 is an important historical document that provides a firsthand account of the Roman conquest of Gaul, as well as valuable insights into the military and political strategies employed by one of history’s most famous generals. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
