Behind the Walls of Special Education was designed to provide parents and educators solutions to problems through the eyes of a School Psychologist. This is accomplished by providing the reader with authentic scenarios that you cannot learn from a textbook. This is your on the job training. The scenarios cover a range of students from elementary through high school. In a story like fashion, several disabilities are addressed including ADHD, Autism, Emotional, and Learning Disabilities. Additional topics are school violence, and a host of behavioral/ discipline concerns. I also walk you through IEP, Manifestation, and Due Process Hearings. Most importantly, throughout the scenarios, there are solutions to the problems that the characters face. In the end, there are additional interventions and suggestions. Overall, this book is great for anyone who needs a better understanding of the Special Education process and how to help children. In the end, you will be well prepared for what goes on behind that wall.
