Die Parkinson-Krankheit ist eine neurodegenerative Erkrankung, die häufig mit motorischen Symptomen wie Bradykinesie, Steifheit, Ruhetremor und Haltungsinstabilität einhergeht. Aufgrund der klinischen Merkmale und der Reaktion des Patienten auf Dopaminmedikamente wird die Krankheit in der Regel im sechsten oder siebten Lebensjahrzehnt diagnostiziert . Obwohl die genaue Ätiologie noch unbekannt ist, ist sie höchstwahrscheinlich das Ergebnis eines genetischen und umweltbedingten Cocktails, der dopaminproduzierende Neuronen in der Substantia nigraabtötet .
