Dieses Buch untersucht anhand einer Panelanalyse den Zusammenhang zwischen der Liquidität der Banken und der Finanzierung der Volkswirtschaften der sechs Länder der CEMAC-Zone zwischen 1987 und 2007. In dem an Demirgüç-Kunt & Huizinga (1999) angelehnten Modell stellen die Kredite an die Wirtschaft die erklärten Variablen dar und entsprechen der Finanzierung der Wirtschaft, während die finanzielle Vertiefung, die Reserven, die Nettoauslandsguthaben (NEA), die Inflation und die Kreditzinsen die erklärenden Variablen darstellen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass von allen erklärenden Variablen nur die Reserven und die NKAs signifikant sind. Erstere wirkt sich positiv auf die Finanzierung der Wirtschaft aus, während letztere einen negativen Einfluss auf die Finanzierung hat. Aufgrund unserer Ergebnisse empfehlen wir eine Erhöhung der Reserven für die Banken, indem wir auf die Akkumulation von Reserven achten, außerdem sollte es einen von der BEAC festgelegten Schwellenwert für die Nettoauslandsguthaben der Banken geben und schließlich einen Gemeinschaftsfonds, der von den CEMAC-Mitgliedstaaten gespeist wird.
