Niniejsza praca zbiorowa, oparta na dwóch badaniach dwóch różnych grup delfinów butlonosych (Tursiops truncatus), ma na celu zbadanie osobowości poszczególnych osobników oraz interakcji w obrębie każdej z grup. W ostatnich latach wzrosło zainteresowanie badaniem osobowości zwierząt. Uważa się, że osobowość zwierząt wyraża się poprzez ich zachowania. Niniejsze badanie przedstawia nową metodę badawczą opartą na modelu pięciu czynników i kodowaniu zachowań. W celu lepszego zrozumienia kontekstu stworzono socjogramy oraz współczynniki powiązań, które pokazują, w jaki sposób osobowość i interakcje między osobnikami współwystępują. Wyniki wykazały, że delfiny wykazują zarówno wyraźne różnice osobowościowe, jak i podobieństwa w zakresie pięciu czynników. Wiedza na temat indywidualnej osobowości i jej implikacji może być pomocna w takich aspektach, jak zarządzanie i programy wymiany, ewolucja i genetyka, a także w dostarczaniu uzupełniającej perspektywy do wyjaśnienia innych badań behawioralnych i kognitywnych.
