Nos últimos anos, os jogos de computador registaram um crescimento em termos de utilizadores, complexidade e modding. O modding, modificações de jogos criadas pelos utilizadores e partilhadas livremente em plataformas como a Nexus Mods, desempenha um papel importante no prolongamento do ciclo de vida dos jogos e no aumento da sua funcionalidade. Este estudo analisa os mods para distinguir os populares dos impopulares e identificar os factores que influenciam as avaliações positivas. Utilizando modelos logísticos e cálculos estatísticos, o estudo examina 40.865 mods em quatro dimensões (categorias de mods, documentação de mods, contribuição da comunidade de mods e características dos modders) e 27 características. A investigação visa fornecer informações sobre o impacto dos mods nos jogos e os factores que determinam a popularidade e as avaliações positivas entre os utilizadores de mods.
