Este livro centra-se no funcionamento do comércio externo no crescimento económico da Nigéria. Para atingir este objetivo, foi utilizada a análise do modelo de regressão linear múltipla para avaliar as várias componentes do comércio externo. A técnica dos mínimos quadrados ordinários (MQO) foi utilizada como meio para atingir este objetivo. Os dados utilizados neste estudo foram extraídos do boletim estatístico da CBN, edição do jubileu de ouro. A partir do estudo, observou-se que as exportações, as importações e a taxa de câmbio estão negativamente relacionadas com a produção real da Nigéria, com 19%, 8,7% e 52%, respetivamente, e que o R2 ajustado é de 71% para o período de 1970 a 2005. Com isto, pode dizer-se que as políticas de comércio externo devem ser reexaminadas e que as indústrias locais devem produzir produtos competitivos.
