Um dos elementos-chave dos programas de prevenção e controlo da malária são as redes mosquiteiras tratadas com inseticida de longa duração (REMILDs). A estratégia de controlo do vetor do parasita da malária baseada em insecticidas será afetada pelo desenvolvimento de resistência dos mosquitos aos insecticidas recomendados. O objetivo desta investigação foi avaliar a suscetibilidade das espécies de Anopheles aos piretróides em REMILDs nas zonas de New-Kanshio, North-Bank e Wurukum de Makurdi, Estado de Benue, Nigéria. Foi efectuado um bioensaio num total de 12 MILDA usados. Os MILD tinham 1, 2, 3 e 4 anos de idade em cada uma das zonas, com MILD novos como controlo. Foi utilizado um total de 450 fêmeas de Anopheles gambiae no teste. As larvas de mosquito foram recolhidas nas três comunidades e criadas no laboratório de abril a junho de 2014 e submetidas a bio-ensaio.
