A biossegurança durante o trabalho laboratorial constitui uma preocupação importante nos países em desenvolvimento. Algumas questões críticas relacionadas com a biossegurança são: a falta de formação dos profissionais, o excesso de carga de trabalho ou o ritmo de trabalho demasiado acelerado, a decisão de não seguir práticas seguras e o cepticismo em relação aos riscos biológicos. Este estudo teve como objetivo determinar o nível de perceção e as práticas de biossegurança dos técnicos de laboratório durante o trabalho de rotina em laboratórios clínicos dos centros de cuidados de saúde primários do estado de Cartum, no Sudão. Além disso, tem-se verificado uma atenção política que parece promissora no sentido de reativar o papel dos centros estratégicos de cuidados de saúde primários que dispõem de laboratórios no estado de Cartum, devido ao seu papel de liderança na educação, tratamento, promoção e reabilitação.
