O apoio psicossocial a um homem que sofreu uma lesão medular (LME) é o objetivo deste livro, que visa conhecer o impacto da reabilitação psicossocial em pacientes com LME. Definimos reabilitação psicossocial como o processo que ajuda o paciente a preparar-se mental e fisicamente para reintegrar-se com sucesso na comunidade ou na família. Além das deficiências físicas, as lesões na medula espinhal muitas vezes têm consequências psicológicas difíceis (Begum 2001). No caso de lesões na medula espinhal, o impacto psicológico é uma questão muito importante. Usei o método qualitativo para chegar a um resultado. Para recolher os dados, usamos um triângulo metodológico, como entrevistas, discussões em grupos focais e observação. O procedimento de amostragem intencional foi usado porque as amostras foram selecionadas considerando critérios de inclusão pré-definidos, sem enfrentar dificuldades.
