Mit Wirkstoff beladene biologisch abbaubare Nanofasern wurden als neuartiges Wirkstofffreisetzungssystem für die Verabreichung von Amphotericin B hergestellt, dem vielversprechendsten Wirkstoff gegen Leishmaniose. Die abbaubaren Nanofasern wurden aus 10 Gew.-% Gelatine in Essigsäure und Wasser, gemischt mit 1 Gew.-% Amphotericin B, hergestellt, und die Fasermorphologie wurde mittels Feldemissions-Rasterelektronenmikroskopie (FE-SEM) untersucht. Unter optimalen Prozessbedingungen wurde die Bildung von perlenfreien Fasern mit einem durchschnittlichen Durchmesser von 100 nm beobachtet. Die chemische Integrität des Wirkstoffs in den elektrogesponnenen Nanofasern wurde durch Fourier-Transform-Infrarot (FTIR)-Spektroskopie bestätigt. Die Freisetzung von Amphotericin B aus den Nanofasern wurde mittels UV-Vis-Spektralphotometer in Phosphatpuffer mit einem pH-Wert von 7,4 bei normaler Körpertemperatur von 37 °C untersucht. Es wurde ein kontrolliertes Freisetzungsmuster von Amphotericin B aus den Gelatine-Nanofasern beobachtet - was darauf hindeutet, dass elektrospunnene, mit Amphotericin B beladene biologisch abbaubare Nanofasern für die Behandlung von Leishmaniose vielversprechend sind.
