Mastite é uma doença multi etiológica complexa que afeta o gado leiteiro, tendo uma alta consequência prejudicial à saúde animal, levando a uma redução da longevidade, produtividade e causando enormes perdas econômicas para a indústria pecuária. O gene CD14 (Cluster of Differentiation 14) é um dos excelentes candidatos para a resistência à mastite. O gene foi mapeado no BTA 7 e se estende por mais de 2630 bp. Este livro, parte da tese do M.V.Sc submetida ao Indian Council of Agricultural Research - National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) explora as variantes do gene CD14 no gado Karan Fries e sua associação com a incidência de mastite.
