Rampan (niewód plażowy) to starożytny tradycyjny sprzęt używany w Ratnagiri i jest rzemieślniczy w sektorze rybołówstwa morskiego Ratnagiri, który pomógł tradycyjnym rybakom w pewnym stopniu przeciwdziałać marginalizacji dużego sektora. Niewód rampowy należy do klasy półokrągłych aktywnych narzędzi połowowych i był używany przez rybaków małoskalowych od początku XX wieku. Najbardziej znanym niewodem plażowym jest sieć Rampani, wprowadzona na południowym wybrzeżu Kanary przez księdza zwanego Ojcem Rampani lub Rampini. Główny korpus sieci jest przymocowany do krajki wzdłuż górnej i dolnej krawędzi, a górna część jest z kolei przymocowana do liny spławikowej, a dolna do liny ciężarka. Niewody są stosowane w morzach, rzekach, zbiornikach wodnych, jeziorach, ujściach rzek i rozlewiskach, gdzie dno jest gładkie i prawie płaskie. W związku z tym w niniejszym badaniu podjęto próbę udokumentowania różnic zaobserwowanych w odniesieniu do projektu, materiału, wymiarów sieci, rozmiaru oczek, biorąc pod uwagę cel w odniesieniu do różnych typów, cech konstrukcyjnych i metod działania stosowanych w Ratnagiri.
