Este estudo, 'Social Media and Youth Participation in Politics in Benue State of Nigeria', avaliou a participação dos jovens na política através das redes sociais no Estado de Benue, na Nigéria. O método de investigação utilizado foi o inquérito e o questionário foi utilizado como instrumento de recolha de dados. Os resultados revelaram que os jovens do Estado de Benue utilizam diariamente as plataformas das redes sociais. O Facebook é a plataforma de redes sociais mais popular entre a população inquirida. A utilização das redes sociais reforçou fortemente o empenhamento político dos jovens no Estado de Benue, na Nigéria. Além disso, os resultados revelaram os desafios enfrentados pelos jovens na utilização das redes sociais para a participação política no Estado de Benue, na Nigéria, incluindo o ciberassédio e os insultos, bem como a falta de educação. Os resultados também revelaram que as redes sociais podem ser utilizadas para educar os jovens sobre questões políticas no Estado de Benue, na Nigéria, incentivando debates e discussões respeitosos entre os utilizadores sobre temas políticos, fornecendo informações precisas e imparciais.
