Esta obra, precursora histórica de O Colapso Silencioso - Brasil 2026, investiga as profundas raízes institucionais das disfunções atuais do Brasil. O texto argumenta que o patrimonialismo, a captura institucional, a tributação extrativista, a impunidade seletiva e o controle de narrativas não são acidentes recentes. Eles representam o amadurecimento lógico de estruturas estabelecidas na época do descobrimento português e aperfeiçoadas ao longo de cinco séculos.Partindo das feitorias litorâneas do período de 1500 a 1530, o texto demonstra como a Coroa tratou o território como uma concessão comercial, e não como um projeto de povoamento. Posteriormente, as capitanias hereditárias de 1534 institucionalizaram a jurisdição privada sobre o poder público. Embora a maioria tenha fracassado, o modelo subjacente de autoridade delegada sem prestação de contas sobreviveu a todas as reformas subsequentes. A escravidão, em escala sem precedentes nas Américas, degradou sistematicamente o capital humano por mais de trezentos anos; a abolição tardia e incompleta de 1888 apenas transmutou a exclusão em novas formas.A transferência da corte portuguesa em 1808, a independência conservadora de 1822, o Poder Moderador da Constituição de 1824 e os arranjos oligárquicos da República Velha (1889-1930) repetiram, cada um à sua maneira, o mesmo padrão: uma modernização formal que expandiu a burocracia e o clientelismo, preservando, contudo, a lógica extrativista. A dependência da trajetória, analisada sob as perspectivas teóricas de Douglass North e de Acemoglu & Robinson, explica por que instituições disfuncionais se mostraram tão resilientes.O documento mapeia cinco padrões interligados ao longo de regimes sucessivos, demonstra sua continuidade por meio de quadros comparativos e identifica quatro vetores estruturais capazes de promover uma ruptura genuína. A obra rejeita tanto as narrativas nacionais romantizadas quanto o determinismo simplista. Conclui-se que a história não é destino, mas que o diagnóstico constitui o primeiro e indispensável ato de resistência. Sem uma genealogia precisa do presente, qualquer reforma não passa de uma cirurgia realizada sem conhecimento de anatomia.
