El concepto de proyecto urbano sustentable o eco-proyecto, entendible como una forma actual y particular de proyecto redefinido por criterios de sustentabilidad, presentado en este libro, permite identificar alternativas conceptuales y metodológicas para adaptar los procesos de transformación territorial y desarrollo urbano a los nuevos imperativos de la sustentabilidad, internalizando cuestiones relativamente inéditas como la crisis en la disponibilidad infinita de energía y materia o como las restricciones de productos y servicios que la dinámica pura de mercado retacea a capas muy amplias de la sociedad. El Seminario de CrÍtica Ambiental del Proyecto-Arquitectura y ciudad: de lo natural a lo sustentable; del proyecto al eco-proyecto, dirigido por el Arquitecto Roberto Fernández, ofició de soporte teórico y a la vez disparador de la mecánica de Taller que se desarrolló en la Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, por iniciativa del T.I.P.U. (Taller de Investigación de Proyectos Urbanos), instituto dependiente de esta facultad, durante la semana del 9 al 14 de diciembre de 2002. Apertura de ideas y primeras experimentaciones proyectuales para aportar al desarrollo de una teoría de pensamiento proyectual más vinculada con las nuevas características globales-locales de las condiciones de sustentabilidad así como articular tal pensamiento crítico-teórico con perspectivas de desarrollo de nuevos instrumentos y modos de trabajo proyectual.
