El abordaje de las múltiples formas del conflicto, la violencia, la guerra y sus respectivos procesos de paz, tienen especial relevancia en la actualidad. La Arqueología histórica se sumerge en un universo estructurado por narrativas dominantes, enquistadas por la imposición de historias contadas por vencedores, letrados y burócratas. Desde la arqueología podemos cuestionar estas grandes narrativas combinando metodologías desarrolladas por las ciencias de lo social: estudios de la materialidad, memoria oral, documentación escrita e iconográfica, entre otras. Asimismo, podemos contribuir a evidenciar heridas que nunca sanaron para lidiar con nuestro pasado. Las guerras han marcado el destino de América Latina, por lo que la comprensión de sus eventos bélicos es central para entender sus identidades.
