In 1999 Roz Hiebert learned about a ship scheduled to sail around the world as the new millennium began. Convinced that she must go on that voyage, she retired from her long-time career as public affairs director of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges to board the Ocean Explorer I. That four-and-a-half month odyssey took her to such exotic destinations as Antarctica and Easter Island, snorkeling in the Seychelles and the Maldives, and exploring Iguazu Falls in South America. The trip was the beginning of a passion for travel that has led her to other faraway places such as Mongolia, Siberia, and the South Pacific’s Marquesas Islands. Through her website, www.travelwithroz.com, she has shared these experiences with her four children and friends. This book presents the personal impressions and sometimes hilarious adventures of an intrepid traveler who won’t let age get in her way as she explores remote corners of the globe. She invites you to come along for the ride if you have a spirit of adventure, armchair or otherwise.
