Este libro surge como un apoyo didáctico a los alumnos-as de un módulo (Diseño de Moldes y modelos de Fundición) en la que no cuento con recursos específicos y para compensar su dificultad para tomar apuntes. Por otra parte, es un libro técnico como cualquiera: bebe de muchas fuentes previamente leídas por el autor y adapta a la materia y a nivel muy didáctico los contenidos más interesantes de cada una. Aunque están pensados para el ciclo de grado superior de Desarrollo de Productos Mecánicos, podrían ser válidos para las escuelas de ingeniería, así como recurso en las empresas del sector.Está pensado como una primera parte de un bloque de dos, en donde se tratará los temas de solidificación, defectos, diseño de piezas y otros procesos de fundición (ya que el libro se refiere fundamentalmente al proceso de fundición en arena verde).
