L’objectif de ce livre est d’explorer les différentes possibilités d’effectuer une analyse des sentiments en ligne et d’utiliser les informations obtenues pour prédire les marchés boursiers. Tout d’abord, plusieurs outils et sources disponibles pour l’analyse des sentiments sont présentés et un bref historique des recherches liées à chaque outil est fourni. En outre, le modèle Google Trend est conçu pour évaluer si les informations sur le volume de recherche des termes sélectionnés peuvent être utilisées pour prédire les mouvements futurs de l’indice S&P 500. Une stratégie basée sur ce modèle est mise en œuvre sur des données historiques et son rendement cumulé est comparé à une stratégie classique d’achat et de conservation. En outre, l’hypothèse selon laquelle il est possible d’utiliser les nouvelles publiées comme indicateur avancé des rendements futurs des actions est testée. Enfin, le processus d’analyse algorithmique des sentiments est décrit et ses forces et faiblesses sont évaluées.
