La poca participación latinoamericana de Escuelas de Ciencia de la Información en la organización de Ischools, motivó la programación de un espacio particular en español y portugués en la Iconference que se realiza anualmente para compartir experiencias en el campo formativo y de investigación disciplinar. Esto no solamente con el propósito de hacer más inclusivo el espacio de la Iconference a otros idiomas, sino también como estrategia para acercar investigadores de la región a la red de colaboración disciplinar que propone la asociación de escuelas en Ciencia de la información (Ischools) y que cuenta con más de 120 miembros distribuidos en distintas partes del mundo. El abordaje interdisciplinar que el marco de las Ischools aporta hacia el fenómeno de la información en nuestros días, hace interesante que se abra a más lenguas que solo la publicación en lengua inglesa.La iConference constituye el foco anual de intercambio de producción científica y académica de las ischools y permite conocer los últimos desarrollos de la interacción entre Información y Tecnología. El éxito de la organización del track en Chino, con varios años de publicación, animó a los organizadores de la Conferencia de 2023 a plantear el primer track en español y portugués.
