From the hills of Virginia, Albert Atwell’s ancestors were some of the first colonists to arrive on American shores. Several of his ancestors came on the Mayflower, others married into Native American lines, and many were descended from the royal houses of Great Britain and Europe. Several of his ancestral lines merge together and descend from Charlemagne. Famous people like John Dee, an alchemist and friend of Queen Elizabeth 1st, was the twin brother of his 14th great-grandmother. One line goes back to (King) Arthur Pendragon and at least one can be traced all the way to Adam, although of course the documentation before 1400 can be sketchy. Due to the limitation of volume size (can be no more than 700 pages), this first volume contains 17 generations of ancestors, complete with index. The next volume of special lineages will explore two or three of the most illustrious lineages as far back as possible and will include the Kings and Queens of Britain, Scotland, and Ireland as well as Charlemagne and the Sea Kings of Norway and Denmark. The cover photo is of John Dee, his 14th great-grand uncle. The complete pedigree and sources are available on Ancestry.com.
