L’érosion des sédiments est l’un des principaux défis des turbines hydrauliques du point de vue de la conception et de la maintenance dans l’Himalaya et les Andes. Des travaux de recherche antérieurs ont montré que l’optimisation de la forme des pales de la turbine Francis peut réduire l’érosion de manière significative. Cette étude a repris les conceptions proposées dans les travaux antérieurs et a effectué une analyse CFD sur un seul passage d’une aube de roue Francis afin de choisir une conception optimisée en termes d’érosion et d’efficacité. Des analyses structurelles ont été effectuées sur la conception sélectionnée par le biais d’une FSI unidirectionnelle et bidirectionnelle afin de comparer l’intégrité structurelle des conceptions.
