L’objectif de ce travail est d’analyser l’œuvre November Steps pour biwa, shakuhachi et orchestre composée par le compositeur japonais Toru Takemitsu (1887 - 1952). Il existe déjà diverses approches de musicologues pour analyser l’harmonie, les tonalités et la structure des œuvres de Takemitsu. Dans ce mémoire, je vais toutefois m’intéresser plus particulièrement à la manière dont sa nationalité japonaise a influencé la composition de cette pièce. Je vais également examiner de plus près les idées que Takemitsu a voulu exprimer dans cette œuvre.
