Niniejsza książka jest wynikiem badań przeprowadzonych w ramach mojej pracy dyplomowej i dotyczy programu Minha Casa, Minha Vida (Moje mieszkanie, moje życie) w gminie Paulista w stanie Paraíba. Na początku znajduje się krótkie wprowadzenie dotyczące ewolucji myśli ekonomicznej, głównie w ostatnim stuleciu, począwszy od klasycznego liberalizmu gospodarczego aż do nadejścia procesu globalizacji, wdrożonego przez neoliberalne polityki, które obecnie wywierają ogromny wpływ na scenę polityczno-gospodarczą. Podsumowując, dokonano analizy roli państwa od laissez faire do neoliberalizmu. Następnie przedstawiono krótką retrospektywę działań rządu federalnego w sektorze mieszkaniowym. Na koniec przeanalizowano program PMCMV w gminie Paulista w stanie Paraíba. Starano się pokazać społeczno-ekonomiczne znaczenie tego programu dla badanej gminy.
