Czyste urządzenia wirujące są najczęściej spotykane w systemach mechanicznych, które są narażone na działanie niepożądanych sił zewnętrznych, głównie z powodu niewyważenia wirnika i niewspółosiowości wału. Siły te powodują wzbudzanie układu, co skutkuje niepożądanymi wibracjami. Z tego powodu może dojść do uszkodzenia łożyska, co stanowi poważne zagrożenie dla życia i działania maszyny. Te uszkodzenia łożysk, jeśli nie są zidentyfikowane i kontrolowane, prowadzą do katastrofalnej awarii łożyska, a w konsekwencji do awarii systemu znacznie przed przewidywanym okresem eksploatacji. Drgania generalnie występują przy częstotliwości roboczej maszyny, ale czasami wzbudzane są również wyższe harmoniczne. Niniejsza praca jest próbą zbadania charakterystyki drgań wirującego układu mechanicznego, który posiada uszkodzone łożysko zamontowane na wale podwieszonym. Sygnały drganiowe zbierane są za pomocą akcelerometru zamontowanego na jednej z obudów łożyska. Analiza FFT uzyskanych danych wykazała odpowiedź w stanie ustalonym zdrowego i uszkodzonego łożyska w warunkach pracy. Badania z użyciem młota udarowego pozwoliły na wyznaczenie częstotliwości drgań własnych dla różnych długości wału z nawisem.
