L’Eugenia uniflora è descritta come dotata di proprietà terapeutiche che aiutano a ridurre il rischio di varie malattie cronico-degenerative, come quelle cardiovascolari e il cancro. Questo effetto è stato attribuito alla presenza di composti antiossidanti come composti fenolici, vitamina C, carotenoidi e metaboliti secondari delle piante, chiamati polifenoli. Lo scopo di questo studio è stato quindi quello di valutare la composizione chimica delle foglie e dell’olio essenziale di Eugenia uniflora, nonché di valutarne il metabolismo e i parametri farmacocinetici in silico.
