Neste livro, foram interpretados oito poços utilizando os registos compostos dos poços e as secções sísmicas, a fim de compreender a estratigrafia do offshore, Delta do Nilo, Egito. Os estudos litoestratigráficos ajudaram a reconhecer as formações rochosas do Mioceno-Plioceno (da base para o topo): Formação Sidi Salim, Formação Rosetta, Formação Abu Madi, Formação Kafr El Sheikh, Formação El Wastani e Formação Mit Ghamr/Bilqas (leito do mar). O presente estudo, portanto, tem por objetivo examinar em pormenor a estratigrafia sequencial na área do Delta do Nilo NW e as ocorrências de hidrocarbonetos na área de estudo. Para este efeito, foi efectuada uma análise estratigráfica das formações registadas na parte NW da área do Delta do Nilo. Compreender o papel da chaminé de gás e das estruturas associadas como vias preferenciais de migração de hidrocarbonetos da secção da cozinha pré-Messiniana para os reservatórios do Plio-Pleistoceno.
