A transferência de calor, a dinâmica da interface, a redistribuição do soluto e a convecção ocorrem ao mesmo tempo, o que torna as coisas mais complicadas. A simulação numérica é necessária porque não é possível ver através de moldes opacos. Este estudo utiliza a visualização de linhas de calor para monitorizar as vias de fluxo de calor e prever a orientação das dendrites, representando uma metodologia inovadora. Os modelos validados reproduzem as alterações de temperatura, os padrões de fluxo e a distribuição de soluto. A investigação procura otimizar os parâmetros de fundição em areia e prever as propriedades mecânicas finais dos componentes A356, correlacionando os fenómenos de transporte com a microestrutura.
