El viaje de Ana Beker comenzó el 1 de octubre de 1950 en Buenos Aires con los caballos Churrito y Príncipe y acabó el 6 de julio de 1954 cuando Ana Beker desmontó frente a la embajada argentina en Ottawa en compañía de los caballos Chiquito y Furia, reemplazantes de los caballos iniciales, que fueron víctimas de los rigores afrontados durante el largo viaje. En este largo recorrido de 25,000 km, Ana Beker atravesó Argentina, Bolivia, Perú, Ecuador, Colombia, Panamá, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, México y de Texas volvió a partir rumbo a Nueva Orleáns, Washington, Nueva York y Montreal hasta llegar a Ottawa. Entre las peripecias pasadas, Ana Beker cuenta el pedido de matrimonio de un cacique, como atraviesa sin dificultad la guerra civil en Colombia, su encuentro con un buscador de tesoros en el lago Titicaca y su escape de los cazadores de vicuñas. En Bolivia estuvo dos meses perdida, sin poder salir de sus montañas. Entre Costa Rica y Guatemala, la asaltaron unos bandidos. En México volvieron a asaltarla, pero ningún percance fue capaz de detener a esta valiente mujer durante los tres años y ocho meses que duró su extraordinaria aventura.
