A vacant apartment. A traveling writer in need of a temporary place to stay. What could go wrong? If you’re the landlady, more than you could imagine. Because until now, Amy Lynch, married since she was eighteen, has been a devoted wife, a doting mother to her now teenage daughters, and a stand-up member of the Logan’s Creek community, not to mention her role as one of the town’s Leading Ladies. The empty apartment is above her boutique, Treasures Abound, and the James Dean lookalike writer, Ryder Quinn, sees her nearly every day. It doesn’t help that Amy’s husband treats her like a platonic business partner instead of his one great love.Amy thinks her world couldn’t get any more complicated, but then a competing boutique moves in just doors away, and once she meets the owners, she has even greater concerns. These eccentric out-of-towners with their furs and fancy cars throw money around like confetti. There is something sinister beneath their benevolence; Amy can feel it. Could they be the undoing of her shop, Treasures Abound? While Amy’s husband ignores her concerns, Ryder steps in to help solve the mystery. Which throws the two together at all hours. How long can she resist Ryder’s charms? How long can she stay in a marriage that’s dying a slow and painful death? And what will her lifelong friends, the Leading Ladies, think about her if she chooses to leave her husband?
