This journal is a means for personally clarifying the effects love and hate have on your life and those you love. Love defines us; Love defends us; Love sets us on our way. .... Hate deludes us; Hate destroys us; Hate blocks our path.Love and hate can be felt and described. Their effects can be witnessed and experienced. But neither can truly be defined. Love and hate are in a power struggle on planet Earth. Given our current geopolitical and socioeconomic conditions, it is obvious that we humans are the play-actors of this struggle. God loves all of creation, including people who care for others as well as those who promote hate and discord. God has an abiding patience with detractors, as with those who obey Jesus’ command to love thy neighbor as thyself. (Matthew 22:39) If only we could remember to love one another during the difficult times of the 21st Century.The years 2000-2025 have been full of conflicting ideas about love and hate. We’ve seen hateful behaviors in the name of love, even in the context of following Jesus. We’ve seen threats and violence to the life and liberty of fellow human beings, rather than love for humanity. Examples of the blurring of love and hate can be seen on the news. This journal is comprised of many examples of love and hate with lines and blank space provided for your personal reflections. Jesus provided these distinctions, and I filled in the descriptors. They are meant to stimulate your thinking and perspectives. Your heart is likely to pay heed as well.
