Depuis l’époque impériale, le nombre de municipalités au Brésil n’a cessé d’augmenter de manière substantielle. Ces changements dans la délimitation des unités spatiales posent une difficulté pour toute recherche qui entend utiliser des données régionales provenant de différentes années. Le présent ouvrage développe une routine pour la génération de zones minimales comparables (AMC) cohérentes dans le temps pour toute sous-période arbitraire entre deux années de recensement comprises entre le premier et le dernier recensement démographique, soit entre 1872 et 2010. Elle s’appuie sur des données récemment compilées par l’Institut brésilien de géographie et de statistiques (IBGE). Le code Stata correspondant est fourni en annexe du livre. Ainsi, les AMC développées sont immédiatement accessibles et permettent de mener des études panel à long terme avec des données régionales.
