La croissance de la population urbaine et les formes multiples adoptées dans les villes sont les phénomènes les plus intéressants de la géographie spatiale. Cependant, ces phénomènes ont provoqué des inadaptations environnementales, sociales et économiques. D’autre part, des activités telles que l’agriculture urbaine apportent une nouvelle perspective à la ville en raison de leurs fonctionnalités et de leurs contributions, dans divers facteurs, à la dynamique de la ville. Dans cette optique, l’objectif de cette recherche était d’analyser les pratiques d’agriculture urbaine orientées vers la commercialisation dans la municipalité de Montes Claros - MG. Plus précisément, il s’agissait de cartographier les sites de production pour la commercialisation de l’agriculture urbaine (AU) à Montes Claros - MG ; d’analyser les fonctions de l’AU dans la production et la commercialisation à Montes Claros - MG ; d’identifier les goulets d’étranglement et le potentiel de l’AU à Montes Claros - MG et d’élaborer une proposition pour encourager et soutenir l’AU à Montes Claros. En contemplant cette pratique dans la ville de Montes Claros, nous pouvons voir une (re)production du rural dans l’urbain, afin de garantir la génération de revenus, le bien-être et les contributions à l’environnement et à la dynamique de consommation des citadins.
