Waarom was hy só vurig oor die ideaal van ’n onafhanklike republiek dat hy dit alles prysgegee het en ’n koers ingeslaan het wat uiteindelik van hom ’n verstoteling sou maak?Van Rensburg word dikwels as ’n verbete Afrikanerfascis beskryf, maar die werklikheid is meer kompleks. In hierdie biografie belig Albert Blake die vele kante van ’n man wat nie net bekend was as regsgeleerde, filosoof en taalkundige nie, maar ook as uitstaande militaris en wildjagter.Op die hoogtepunt van sy gewildheid kon geen ander Afrikanerleier by die begaafde Van Rensburg kers vashou nie. Blake ondersoek waarom hy uiteindelik egter die stryd om die hart van die Afrikaner sou verloor.
