In Burkina Faso, la terra rimane il bene più importante per la popolazione, data la sua importanza strategica per lo sviluppo socio-economico del Paese. Negli ultimi tre decenni, la terra è diventata un bene ambito, che attrae investimenti e genera ricchezza economica. Questo crescente interesse per la terra non è privo di conseguenze per la sua gestione. Il sistema di governance fondiaria del Paese si sovrappone alle regole locali di proprietà fondiaria, spesso basate sulla tradizione orale. Siamo passati dalla legge che conferiva la proprietà esclusiva della terra allo Stato all’estensione della proprietà a tre entità. Quest’ultima versione della legislazione, in vigore dal 2012, è nuovamente contestata da alcuni cittadini e associazioni attivi nelle questioni fondiarie, con conseguenze per diversi attori politici. La polemica è accesa, ma non è sostenuta da proposte alternative convincenti. Il problema è profondo e richiede un’azione vigorosa. Per questo motivo abbiamo deciso di approfondire il tema del 'Land grabbing in Burkina Faso: il caso della provincia di Kadiogo'.
