A quantidade de requisitos computacionais actuais fez com que o processamento de dados passasse da forma normal para a forma paralela de computação. Os processadores em cadeia e os processadores em matriz podem ser utilizados para a conceção de hardware paralelo. Estes sistemas construídos podem ser alargados com a ajuda de sistemas escalares e superescalares. Apresentamos uma forma eficiente de implementar a variante de Winograd da multiplicação de matrizes de Strassen em sistemas paralelos, utilizando RMI (Remote Method Invocation), que nos fornece programação orientada para objectos distribuídos e programação multithreading. A abordagem multithreading ajuda muito na programação concorrente, dinâmica e assíncrona. Nesta investigação, os clusters foram criados a partir de sistemas de hardware muito básicos que estão ligados à rede local através de um comutador e um sistema principal ligado a este comutador utiliza três NIC. A possibilidade de a variante de Winograd do método de Strassen ser executada numa abordagem de divisão e conquista é o facto básico em torno do qual foi efectuada toda a análise.
