《两京记》（上）讲述了主人公伍小磊一家在'文革'运动与1980年代改革开放初期的经历。《两京记》（下）续前描绘了，北京与南京两地8964的全民与学生的民主运动与当局对之野蛮、血腥的镇压，及其前因后果，主人公伍小磊的儿子伍小阳、郭剑等'民运人士'在被通缉追捕中通过各种途径成功逃亡之全过程。2000年代以来当局又对练功健身之信仰群体进行了种种的反人道迫害。其中插入了在1957反右运动中的受害者甘粹与林昭生死恋情的追忆，剖析了这场人道灾难的根由。这部小说如实地描绘了中国一代文人在70多年漫漫长夜中的政治生态和他们的爱情，婚姻，家庭的生活以及心理状态。作者从他独特的美学视角，以他美学家的思维模式，及其尖锐的，浪漫的，富于人性真实色彩的批判笔触，审视和揭露了跛足的改革所导致畸形的'先富'经济，以'弯道超车'在带给人民物质生活的相对提高的同时，也给社会造成了贫富极度分化、吏治严重腐败、人性泯灭，面临着经济泡沫崩溃的危机......这是一部非专职作家之学者型写实小说，一些启智的对话探讨，读来可能会觉得枯燥，却值得细读和品味。作品刻画了几位栩栩如生的理想人物的形象，并通过情感与想像放飞，绘制出一幅幅如学者圈、单身汉、退休者群体之众生相风俗画素描。主人公晚年过上了一段似乎'岁月静好'的日子，最后染上'新冠病毒'，带着'不见九州同'的悲戚离世，结束了这部小说，给读者留下了不尽的思索。
