USS New Jersey is the most decorated American battleship. After serving in four wars, USS New Jersey is now retired in Camden NJ, across the Delaware River from where she was built. Like her sisters (Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin), USS New Jersey is now open to visitors.A Visual Tour of Battleship USS New Jersey is a photographic exploration of the entire ship, from the top of the mainmast to the bottom of the chain locker. The coverage includes both areas of the ship that are not open to the public. There are nearly six hundred illustrations, including complete deck plans. The photographs capture areas of USS New Jersey that have never appeared in print before. The book also includes comparative photographs showing the other Iowa-class battleships: USS Iowa, USS Missouri, and USS Wisconsin. The book is divided into sections for each deck, with additional sections for the engine rooms, fire rooms, and sixteen-inch turrets. Each section has plans that are keyed to the photograph locations. The captions describe in detail the functions of the ship.
