A presente obra visa descrever as caraterísticas sintáticas do Português e do Kimbundu, duas línguas com base genética diferentes, porém, faladas num mesmo território, isto é, em Angola. Esta situação de contacto e coabitação entre duas línguas pertencentes a famílias linguísticas diferentes causou o surgimento de uma variante angolana do português com especificidades próprias, sobretudo nos domínios lexicais e morfossintáticos.Nos últimos tempos, tem-se assistido ao surgimento de trabalhos sobre as interferências e empréstimos que resultam do contacto do Português e das línguas africanas em Angola. Todavia, ainda há pouca produção sobre morfossintaxe das línguas africanas faladas em Angola que possa contribuir para o conhecimento da norma de cada uma delas (do Kimbundu, em particular) e para a elaboração de mais material didático que torne acessível o ensino das mesmas em todo o país.
