Amos’s son William makes an extraordinary 700-mile journey on foot from Pennsylvania to western Illinois, loses a wife and six children, helps start an orphanage, becomes a minister, raises ten children with his second wife, loses everything he owns and finally, near the end of his life, returns to Pennsylvania, not far from where he first began. The author has spent hundreds of hours and has traveled thousands of miles to gather the facts, photos and details presented here.
