This book reproduces the life of a person belonging to a special generation in China. The generation that grew up simultaneously with the communist country experienced a series of political movements, including the notorious Cultural Revolution. Shortly after its end in 1976, some brave and fortunate ones went back to schools to remedy their lost decade. Some of them even came to the United States to study and work. ?A Long Journey under the Blue Sky? illustrates how those people struggled and survived through the brutal movement in China, and how they become scientists and engineers in America. The book covers a long period from his poor infancy till a happy senior citizen. His personal experience would reveal the drastic changes dominated by so called Marxist ideology. The book is divided into two parts. The first half covers the time he spent in China, and the second describes his life in the free world, where he has learned not only physics, but also freedom and democracy. 3
