This book reproduces the life of a person belonging to a special generation in China. The generation that grew up simultaneously with the communist country who experienced a series of political movements, including the notorious Cultural Revolution. Shortly after its end in 1976, some brave and fortunate ones went back to schools to remedy their lost decade. Some of them even came to the United States to study and work. The book illustrates how those people struggled and survived through the brutal movement in China, and how they became scientists and engineers in America. The book covers a long period from his poor childhood till a pleasant senior citizen. The author grew up in Beijing and had lived there until coming to the United States. His personal experience would reveal the drastic disturbance dominated by so called Marxist ideology. The book is divided into two parts. The first half covers the time he spent in China, and the second describes his new life in the free world.
