A investigação pretende melhorar o conhecimento existente sobre o nexo dívida-crescimento, analisando a ligação entre diferentes países, no nosso caso entre Marrocos, Egito e Equador. Os académicos têm debatido a influência da dívida externa no crescimento económico desde a crise da dívida que começou na década de 1980. Este artigo investiga o impacto da dívida externa no crescimento económico de países profundamente endividados selecionados através do efeito de excesso de dívida e de exclusão da dívida. Para o efeito, são analisados dados de três países profundamente endividados em todo o mundo, de 1970 a 2023. Os resultados da estimativa sugerem que a dívida externa influencia o desenvolvimento económico através do excesso de dívida. Além disso, para realçar o efeito do serviço da dívida, o artigo descobriu que os países selecionados não pagam (servem) mais de 95% da sua dívida total. Utilizámos uma abordagem dedutiva baseada numa análise exaustiva da literatura que incorporou dados teóricos e empíricos. Em seguida, realizámos uma análise económica utilizando o modelo ARDL para avaliar o impacto da dívida pública (interna e externa) no crescimento económico de Marrocos, do Egito e do Equador.
