From the very first pages of Chapter One, you will notice that Dr. Jackson’s writing is accessible. Most of us, as bible students seek out commentaries to provide us with clarity on just what the Scriptures are saying to us. It is important to remember that we are separated from both the writer and the initial audience by thousands of years, thousands of miles and cultural differences that are unquantifiable. Dr. Jackson applies his scholarship as a bridge over that which separates us, to the original author and his intended meaning. As early readers would have well understood colloquialisms, turns of phrases and examples, contemporary ones are used here to help us get the same message. This style of writing brings the word of God right to where it can be reached and understood.
