O objetivo desta publicação académica é fornecer uma visão geral do surgimento e da integração dos Estados insulares das Caraíbas como membros da Comunidade das Caraíbas, conhecida pela sua sigla CARICOM. Durante mais de meio século, a CARICOM trabalhou para a união dos países das Caraíbas insulares, embora inclua três países do continente: Belize, Guiana e Suriname. Explicaremos também o processo de integração que conduziu à CARICOM e a estrutura desta Comunidade.
