Ein Wintermärchen' wurde 1844 publiziert, in einer Zeit, in der man unzufrieden mit den politischen Verhältnissen im Deutschland der Restaurationszeit war. Die 1843 von Heine geschriebene Verssatire reflektiert die Impressionen seiner Deutschlandreise. Durch scharfe Ironie setzt er sich mit allem auseinander, was seinen deutschen Zeitgenossen 'heilig' war: militantes Nationalgefühl, religiöse Institutionen, Franzosenhaß und Kleinstaaterei. Um dem Vorwurf des Antipatriotismus’ zu entgehen, fügte er seinem Werk ein versöhnliches Vorwort hinzu. Trotzdem unterdrückte die preußische Zensur dieVerbreitung des Werkes.In diesem Teil der Arbeit, wird anhand einer Kontextualisierung, einer Analyse Heines Moderne, der Entstehungsgeschichte des versifizierten Reisebildes und der Erklärung des Titelsversucht, den Fragen „warum schrieb Heinrich Heine diese Verssatire des preußischen Deutschlands, was waren seine Intentionen und wie wie reagierte das deutsche Publikum?' auf den Grund zu gehen.
