Die Betrachtung der Interaktionen emotionaler und kognitiver Prozesse ist von zentraler Bedeutung für das Verständnis der menschlichen Entwicklung und des menschlichen Verhaltens sowie für das Verständnis unterschiedlicher psychiatrischer Erkrankungen. In der vorliegenden Monographie werden zunächst grundlegende Erkenntnisse zur Emotions/Kognitions-Kopplung bei Gedächtnisprozessen und deren Relevanz für affektive Störungen dargestellt. Nach einer Einführung in die Methodik der ereigniskorrelierten Hirnpotentiale werden die Möglichkeiten der Anwendung dieses Verfahrens für Fragestellungen im Bereich der Emotions/Kognitions-Kopplung bei Patienten mit affektiven Erkrankungen und bei gesunden Probanden untersucht und fächerübergreifend (Psychiatrie, Psychologie, Neurobiologie und Elektrophysiologie) diskutiert.
